Bring your own AI key

Connect your organization’s own AI provider API key to use AI features without your plan’s monthly token allowance. When a key is connected, Acme uses it for that provider, and usage is billed directly to your provider account.

Every plan includes a monthly allowance of AI tokens. If you need more usage than your plan includes, connecting your own AI provider API key lifts that cap: requests run against your provider account instead of counting toward your plan’s allowance, giving you unlimited AI tokens within Acme.

A connected key applies to your whole organization — every member’s AI usage runs through it.

AI provider keys are managed at the organization level and can only be set up by an admin or the organization owner. The Settings → Integrations page is visible to everyone, but the provider-key controls appear only for admins and owners. Members with a lower role see a message that AI provider keys are managed by workspace admins.

For how roles work, see Roles and permissions.

  1. Sign in as an admin or the organization owner.
  2. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  3. Find the provider you want to connect (for example, the OpenAI or Anthropic section).
  4. Select Add API Key.
  5. Paste your provider API key into the API Key field.
  6. Select Save.

Once saved, the section shows an Active badge and a masked preview of the key (only the first few characters are shown), confirming a key is configured. From that point on, Acme uses your key for that provider.

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations as an admin or owner.
  2. In the provider’s section, select Update API Key.
  3. Paste the new key and select Save.

The new key replaces the old one immediately.

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations as an admin or owner.
  2. In the provider’s section, select Remove.
  3. Confirm in the dialog that appears.

After you remove a key, AI features fall back to your plan’s monthly token allowance — see Using AI.

API keys come from the AI provider directly, not from Acme. Create one in your provider’s own dashboard or console, then paste it into the matching section in Settings → Integrations. For the providers Acme supports, see Supported platforms.
