Enable developer mode
The Developer area lives at Settings → Developer and is where you create and manage API tokens. It only appears when two things are true: the Developer feature is enabled for Acme, and your workspace role is high enough.
What has to be true
Section titled “What has to be true”You can open Settings → Developer when both of these apply:
- The Developer feature is enabled. This is a platform-wide setting. When it’s turned off, the Developer area is hidden for everyone and the API rejects token requests.
- Your workspace role is developer or higher. Roles are ranked user → developer → admin → owner. You need at least the developer role in your active workspace; admins and owners qualify too. See Roles and permissions.
If the Developer feature is off, or your role is below developer, the Developer entry won’t show in your Settings navigation, and visiting the page sends you back to your account settings.
How to open the Developer area
Section titled “How to open the Developer area”- Sign in to Acme.
- Open Settings.
- Select Developer from the settings navigation.
From there you can create an API token.
Don’t see the Developer area?
Section titled “Don’t see the Developer area?”- Check your role. Ask a workspace admin or owner to confirm your role is developer or higher, or to change it. See Change a member’s role.
- Switch to the right workspace. Your role is per-workspace, so make sure the workspace where you have developer access is active. See Switch workspaces.
- The feature may be turned off. If the Developer area is missing for everyone, the feature is disabled for Acme. Reach out via our contact page or email [email protected].
