Change your password

You can change your password at any time from your security settings. You’ll need your current password to confirm the change.

Change your password

1. Sign in to Acme.
2. Go to Settings → Security.
3. In the Password section, select Change Password.
4. Enter your Current Password.
5. Enter your New Password, then re-enter it under Confirm New Password.
6. Select Update Password.

If you change your mind before saving, choose Cancel to close the form without making any changes.

You’ll be signed out everywhere

For your security, changing your password ends every active session — including the one you’re using right now, plus any other devices and browsers signed in to your account.

After the change succeeds, you’re signed out automatically and taken to the login page. Sign back in with your new password to continue.

Note

Because every session is ended, anyone who was signed in to your account on another device will need to sign in again. This is also a quick way to lock out a device you no longer have access to — see Manage active sessions.

Pick a strong password

A good password is long, unique to Acme, and not reused from another site.

Tip

Use a password manager to generate and store a long, random password. If you turn on two-factor authentication, even a leaked password isn’t enough for someone to sign in as you.

Forgot your current password?

If you can’t remember your current password, you can’t change it from this screen — you’ll need to reset it instead. Sign out and follow Reset a forgotten password.
