Reset a forgotten password
If you can’t remember your password, you can reset it from the login page. Acme emails you a secure link that lets you set a new password — no current password needed.
Request a reset link
Section titled “Request a reset link”- Go to the Acme login page.
- Select the Forgot password? link.
- Enter the email address for your account.
- Submit the form.
If an account exists for that email, a reset link is on its way. You’ll see a confirmation on screen, and there’s a short cooldown before you can request another link.
Set your new password
Section titled “Set your new password”- Open the password reset email and select the reset link.
- On the reset page, enter your new password and confirm it.
- Submit to save the new password.
Once it’s saved, you’re taken to the login page. Sign in with your new password.
After you reset
Section titled “After you reset”Resetting your password ends all of your existing sessions — any other device that was signed in will need to sign in again with the new password. This makes a reset a safe way to lock out someone who may have had access.
If you have two-factor authentication turned on, you’ll still be asked for a code from your authenticator app (or a recovery code) when you sign in after resetting.
Didn’t get the email?
Section titled “Didn’t get the email?”If the reset email doesn’t arrive within a few minutes:
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Make sure you entered the same email address you use to sign in.
- Wait for the cooldown to finish, then request the link again.
